Cross Border Regulatory Legal Counsel, Cross-Border

Purpose of the Job

The successful candidate will report to the Head of the Cross-Border L&C Competence Center and have the skills and experience to have an impact on the compliant growth of the international businesses of the Quintet Group. You will advise and assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Group cross-border compliance framework and undertake a range of activities in this regard.

Key Accountabilities

• Maintaining country-specific guidance and training material on cross-border relationships with clients in the UK and other assigned jurisdictions across various business lines of the bank
• Advising internal stakeholders on regulatory aspects of cross-border relationships with residents of various European jurisdictions in reliance on the freedom of services regime and otherwise out of EU and non-EU affiliates of the bank
• Advising on UK regulatory aspects of UK inbound business from EU and non-EU affiliates of the bank and intra-group UK regulatory requirements post Brexit and post temporary permission period
• Advising on the implementation of the Group strategy in relation to restricted markets and complex structures
• Delivering training on cross-border topics as necessary (ad hoc, classroom, and otherwise in addition to web-based training)
• Advising on strategic decisions for the countries / regions of primary coverage
• Staying abreast of regulatory developments for countries / regions of primary coverage
• Collaborating with other Cross-Border L&C team members for seamless and effective coverage across various booking centers of the group
• Assisting with responses to regulatory queries as applicable
• Performing at mid to senior level, with full ability to represent the function at internal fora and on processes, as per delegation by the team head or as otherwise appropriate
• Contributing to the work of Group Compliance as a cross-border compliance subject matter expert in any other ways reasonably expected, including participating in projects and working groups and assisting with other priorities in the department or group as a whole
 

Knowledge and Experience

UK qualified solicitor, with at least 5 years PQE
Proven knowledge and technical expertise in specialist cross-border regulatory and financial services regulatory knowledge
Experience of working inhouse would be useful but not a must
Familiarity with asset holding structures (trusts, foundations, funds etc.)

Advanced level of MS Office Suite skills

Business fluent in English. Other languages a plus.
