Purpose of the Job

Brown Shipley COO oversees the operational and IT functions, to ensure the efficient and secure functioning of the bank in compliance with UK and international regulations. He/She works closely with Brown Shipley Chief Executive Officer and with Quintet Group COO (in matrix) to drive operational excellence, enhance customer experience and ensure alignment with group Strategic objectives. The role will be SMF 24 (Chief Operations) and have prescribed responsibility for CASS.

Key Accountabilities

• Oversee and optimise daily operations, ensuring seamless execution of the services in compliance with regulations
• Together with 2nd line (CRO, CCO), ensure robust control framework is in place to uphold regulatory and internal standards
• Build strong relationships with Quintet senior leadership, in particular Group Heads of Operations and IT, to deliver on group strategic and business agendas
• Responsible for Oversight of all Outsourcing undertaken by BSCO, this also includes the Outsourcing Policy and Framework
• Responsible for BSCO Business Continuity framework
• Responsible for Oversight of Change Management within BSCO.
• Work closely with the Quintet Group COO team in implementing Group COO transformation in the UK, promoting change initiatives and supporting their execution locally. In particular, supporting the group's integration agenda across Operations and IT, focusing on process standardization, efficiency, and the creation of centres of excellence within Quintet
• Oversee BSCO Information Technology and Cybersecurity Framework, in alignment with Quintet Group Framework
• Support financial planning, budgeting and cost control efforts to drive profitability and sustainable growth in alignment with Group
• As a member of the BSCO Executive Committee and Quintet Group Operations leadership team (GOLT) and Enterprise Risk Committee, attend all meetings and contribute by discussion, report and where appropriate, undertake any agreed project on behalf of senior management
• Responsible with the BSCO Board and other Executive Committee members for setting the company’s strategic management and direction
• As a matrix led organisation all accountabilities will be in alignment with the Quintet Group Framework
• Manage resources within the allocated staff budget for the year and manage appropriately the right balance of internal and external resources in collaboration with the respective Group Heads
• Lead, coach and inspire teams, and together with Group functional heads create succession planning for key roles
 

Knowledge and Experience

• Extensive experience working in a Leadership capacity within the Financial Services sector, preferably yet not solely with COO responsibilities (Operations and IT, Process Optimization as well as Transformation)
• Strong understanding of UK Financial Services Regulation, including FCA and PRA requirements
• Experience of Outsourcing Oversight and Frameworks
• Demonstrated experience in managing operational risk, business continuity and compliance frameworks
• Experience with matrix models, ensuring both local and group requirements are met
• Experience of building and maintaining high performing teams
