Senior Legal Counsel

Purpose of the Job


We are looking to hire a mid to senior level employment lawyer with previous experience of contentious matters and continental European employee relations.This is an excellent opportunity to be the key subject matter expert across the Group on strategic and contentious employment topics, a key partner to Group HR and provide legal advice and support on various projects across Quintet Group. The role holder may also be required to support the Head of Legal - Litigation and Contentious Regulatory in performing investigations, possibly conducting them his or herself with supervision

Key Accountabilities


  • Leading on larger contentious cases (litigation and settlements) across the Quintet Group and any employment transactions (M&A and restructuring-related employment topics), with the assistance of external counsel where necessary
  • Overseeing the advice on the content and implementation of all employment policies across the Group including the Employee Handbook
  • Acting as the Group Legal support to HR in relation to workers councils and any high risk employee relations cases 
  • Leading or participating in internal investigations, especially those with a conduct focus
  • Co-ordinating maximum standardisation of employment contracts and agreements across the Group 
  • Overseeing the provision of “business-as-usual” legal support to Group HR by external providers
  • Advising Group HR and other relevant stakeholders on compliance with employment law and regulations 

Knowledge and Experience


  • Mid to senior level qualified employment lawyer within a law firm or financial institution
  • Experience in contentious employment law, with some pan-European exposure
  • Preferred: Good knowledge and experience of employee relations topics in at least one, but preferably multiple workers council jurisdictions. Experience conducting internal investigations

  • Familiar with working independently on own initiative to manage workload and as the key contact for employment law questions at Group level, (covering Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland and the UK)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, and comfortable presenting solutions with stakeholders which are easily understood 

Technical Skills


  • Qualified employment lawyer with at least 5 years’ relevant experience working in financial services sector (law firm or in-house)

Languages Skills


  • Fluent in English (business level) ; knowledge of other languages, especially French, is preferred
