Head of Procurement

Job Description
  • Define, implement, manage and monitor the purchasing strategy for all cost categories (Real Estate, IT, HR, Marketing, Communication, Financial Services, Market Data) with a view to provide efficiency and value for money in the purchase of products, equipment and services across the Group
  • Manage, coach a team of procurement professionals and regularly interact with senior stakeholders across the group
  • Develop and monitor the group procurement framework, related cost category policies and procurement tools
  • Work alongside business units to carry out material and cross-function purchasing projects at group level to reach the best possible terms (quality and level of service, cost, timing and risk) while guaranteeing optimum adjustment of resources for the whole bank (challenging needs and solutions, lower costs without affecting quality, service, guarantees and risk),   
  • As Head of Group Procurement you will play a crucial role in optimizing the cost base of the group and leverage the group spending power by:
    • Define purchasing plans and formulating cost savings initiatives     
    • Managing on site procurement reviews within the affiliates,        
  • Manage relationships and set up strategic partnerships with suppliers to ensure quality. Act as second level of escalation for discussions and issues with suppliers
  • Reduce financial, legal and operating risks in relation to transactions with external parties, in order to optimize the bank's profitability.

 

Knowledge/Experience

  • Technical knowledge of complex products and services
  • Knowledge of the purchasing field and the various fields covered, leadership, compliance
  • Very good knowledge of at least some of the following (Real Estate, IT, Facilities, Marketing, Communication, HR) and of market developments
  • Legal, analytical and financial knowledge
  • Understanding and skills in negotiating strategies and techniques
  • Project management, business case, team management, change management
  • Advanced negotiation techniques
  • IT Tools : LO procurements tools; Purchase to Pay tools

 

Attributes/Qualities

  • Master’s degree 
  • 5 years of experience in one of these fields (Real Estate, IT, Facilities, Marketing, Communication, HR), 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills 

 

Technical skills

  • Seven steps sourcing process 

 

Language skills

  • Fluent in English. French, Dutch and/or German are an advantage
