The successful candidate will be an experienced risk management / operational / enterprise risk specialist with project management skills who will join the second line of defence in the Group Operational Risk Control function at Quintet.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced operational risk expert to help embed and enhance core elements of the operational risk framework.  
The key requirements of the role include:

 

  • Partnering with the business including senior management to provide independent oversight and challenge, and proactive risk advisory to promote effective risk management across the organisation.  
  • Continuously improving the Risk Framework and Policies whilst keeping client experience at the forefront. 
  • Independent risk assurance and validation of control assessments performed by the 1st line of defence, ensuring that they are robust and appropriate.
  • Creating risk intelligence and developing actionable risk insights for Senior Management
  • Building and fostering key relationships with stakeholders and peers across the firm by working together to improve risk management processes.
  • Strengthening the risk culture through operational risk training and risk culture initiatives. 

 

Quintet’s Group Operational Risk Control function is part of the second line of defence and provides oversight of the application of Group Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework across the firm. The team is led by the Group Head Operational Risk Control and responsible for providing the framework and tools for managing operational risk and works closely with the first line of defence and other control functions. 
 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Drive the Risk Control agenda for non-financial risks through ongoing communication and sharing best practice across the firm 
  • Monitor/challenge the reporting of operational risk events/ risk issues by the 1st Line of Defence: timely escalation, accurate analysis, robust mitigating action plan
  • Review/challenge the proper execution of Risk Control Self-Assessment analysis by the business and control functions. 
  • Perform independent assurance on key controls, risk management action plans (including regulatory and audit) and outsourcing arrangements
  • Conduct proactive risk reviews and support the firm with risk advisory services for business growth and expansion or new / change process build out.
  • Foster stakeholder relationships across the 3 Lines of Defence including Senior Management.
  • Interact with external stakeholders such as Regulators: answering their requests, timely delivering action plans
  • Promote risk culture by facilitating Group risk culture initiatives this includes training and awareness sessions. 
  • Ad hoc support as requested by Group Head of Operational Risk Control on related matters.

Knowledge and Experience

 

  • Experienced candidate with at least 5 years of relevant experience in risk management / operational / enterprise risk (or a similar function, compliance, internal audit) within a financial institution and Project Management Experience.

  • Excellent knowledge and experience of risk management / operational / enterprise risk frameworks and processes.
  • Strong analytical skills: i.e. able to challenge analysis made by the 1st Line of Defence.
  • Strong knowledge of banking activities: i.e. able to challenge the efficiency/effectiveness of processes and/or controls.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, influence and persuade at various levels and deliver impactful presentations
  • Ability to work independently and within a virtual team
  • Effective leadership and program management skills to drive change across organisation
  • Proven ability to deliver on large scale projects and bring people with him/her 
  • Be able to evolve in a matrixed / changing and fast paced environment
  • Global understanding of private banking processes is a plus willing to learn about a pan Expanding private bank business

Technical Skills

  • Good command of MS Office, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Share Point, Prince 2 or Agile.

Languages Skills

  • Fluent in English is mandatory.  French is an advantage for Luxembourg; other European languages are an advantage but not mandatory
