Purpose of the Job

Puilaetco’s Chief Strategist is in charge of preserving Puilaetco’s client asset portfolios, promoting the Quintet’s house view towards investment specialists, clients and prospects, and to be the “voice of the market” towards the press and other outside stakeholders.  

He participates and contributes actively to the group investment strategy and process (S)he collaborates with teams of qualified professionals (Group and local teams) and helps to develop both short and long-term investment views, helps define local bias based on fiscal constraints and client risk appetite and behaviour, support and motivate investments recommendations towards internal stakeholders i.e. CA, IS.

Key Accountabilities

 

Key accountabilities include a wide range of responsibilities working in partnership with other parts of the organisation, which includes: 

 

  • Meet clients and prospects, jointly with CAs, across Belgium, to help maintain and further grow Quintets’ market position; 
  • Engage and communicate with external media to establish and grow market awareness for Quintet Belgium, this to further accelerate growth in Belgium; 
  • Present Quintet investment strategy and investment ideas at client events, conferences, webinars and podcasts; 
  • Support Belgium Management team as representative of Group Investment Research;
  • Help functional Investment Research team spanning macro & market strategy and asset allocation by joining investment idea generation meetings, producing asset-class research and contributing on investment recommendations (‘The House View’); 
  • Contribute to research, production and writing of Quintet’s suite of Counterpoint publications and other ad-hoc material; 
  • Utilize own HNWI and UHNWI network to introduce new business; 
  • Input provider when developing the SAA and TAA, Belgium fit, home bias, in collaboration with Belgium head of ICS;     
  • Support Client Advisors, build strong storytelling around the strategy, investment ideas, through volatile market events and other.

  • Behave as a role model for the employees, behave to highest ethical and conduct standards; 
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and peers within the Group  
  • Ensure that Risk is fully understood and addressed across the team to enable business; 
  • Ensure risk culture in line with the Group’s risk culture objectives; 
  • Provide clear direction on strategic goals, translating and prioritizing them into business and performance measures; 
  • Monitor adherence to governance and compliance and setting high standards of professionalism across the functions; 

Knowledge and Experience

 

  • Proven and relevant experience (minimum 10 years) across a range of business disciplines in the financial industry, i.e., portfolio construction, investment strategy, macro economy , fund management, ESG strategy; 
  • Proven experience to lead, drive a business and generate revenue; 
  • Be the spokesperson and interface to external markets  and press representing Quintet Belgium  and the business,  to create market awareness;  
  • Proven and relevant experience and understanding of local regulatory framework, cross-border and risk and compliance;
