Senior Alternative Investment Specialist

Purpose of the Job / Objectives

The successful candidate will work as part of the Alternatives function within Global Products and Solutions, reporting.  
Key Accountabilities:
Investment research 
a)    Based on CIO views and SAA/TAA as well as the external consultant’s recommendations and assessments, produce and document investment ideas related to the alternative asset class and linked vehicles  (hedge funds, funds of hedge funds, private equity, private debt, direct real estate and infrastructure funds). Identify trends in marketplace and understand regional competitor offerings, work with consultant and AI community to develop new strategies, structures and products. 
b)    Actively use and integrate the consultant work in the AI Investment process and contribute to animate the AI investment process. Active preparation and participation in the AI process, Strategy meeting, AI Committee: present investment opinions and relevant documentation to the AI committee. 
c)    Serve as specialist liaison between AI Team, PB Distribution Team, and GPS & CIO channels to become the trusted specialist in alternative investments. 

Product and Project Management
d)    Manage products and services agreements procedures, most notably ensure suitability, compliance with regulations and internal rules, standard of content quality and marketing templates/best practices.
e)    Monitor investments: conduct meetings with managers in line with consultant output, write, share and store meeting notes and relevant documentation, coordinate follow-ups, organize conferences and roadshows when relevant. 
f)    Collect, organize, tabulate marketing/meeting data to present to the AI team, AI community and AI committee, and distribution teams to ensure that information is shared and that they have up to date feedback regarding product line-up.
g)    Manage advisory relationships for hedge funds portfolios and private markets exposures, in line with the front office and relevant procedures.

h)    Support diffusion in the group and affiliates through calls, meetings, WIN calls, road shows, videos, flashes and other tools. Help educate local teams (Private bankers, investment advisors, portfolio managers, etc.). 
i)    Coordinate constructively with internal stakeholders, sales management and other relevant teams.
j)    Ensure penetration group wide: fit with group and local needs (including affiliate specificities, regulations and fiscal frameworks), target market as well as knowledge and experience, existing positions and exposures, views and communication. 
k)    Become the trusted specialist of alternative investments for internal stakeholders and clients

Reporting & Servicing, part of managing the life cycle of investment solutions
l)    Coordinate proactive investor communication and ensure that internal notes, product reports, etc. are timely, accurate and disseminated to the relevant stakeholders through the appropriate channels.
m)    Respond to on-going stakeholders and client inquiries and requests.
n)    Actively contribute to the group publications and research papers.

Required Knowledge and Experience

In-depth knowledge, proven track-record and relevant experience on both alternative products and clients’ side, having held similar senior roles.
Broad knowledge, comprehension and practice of financial markets and alternative strategies. If your expertise is in at least one area of Alternatives, it would be key to have the desire to develop in-depth investment knowledge in all alternative asset classes, stemming from previous experiences such as hedge funds DD analyst and portfolio manager at senior levels, senior analyst on private markets funds and direct deals.
Some exposure to M&A activity in investment banking would be advantageous.
Strong and proven advisory capabilities and excellent communication skills in Alternatives for sophisticated and international clients, such as family offices and U/HNW individuals across diverse strategies.
Ability to listen and create customised solutions as appropriate.

Technical Skills

Subject Matter Expert in hedge funds, funds of hedge funds, private equity, private debt, direct real estate and infrastructure funds.
Higher education in Finance & Economics (preferably Master degree), CFA level.
Proficient in common IT applications and AI databases.

Language Skills

Fluent in English would be ideal, an additional languages French, German would be a real advantage
